About our buildings

We may be new to the web, but we are old hands at dealing with the requirements of domestic animals and those who look after them. To get the best out of your animals they need to be kept in a happy and healthy environment, and the easier the husbandry the less likely that boredom or neglect will set in.

It all feels like the perfect hobby or even occupation during the long summer evenings, what's better then out tending to your stock in luscious green fields while admiring the beautiful sunset. Then comes winter, all you want to do is get indoors and sit around the fire. Unfortunately there is as much, if not more to do outside in order to maintain the high standards set in the summer. Dark evenings, blowing a gale, wet through and up to your knees in mud. That can be the reality and that's why you need a set-up that is quick and easy to manage.

If you are experienced in keeping animals then you will probably know what you want and will know a good product when you see it. There is a huge selection of products available on the market, all shapes and sizes and all varying in quality and prices. At Cornwall poultry houses we truly believe that our products are the best value for money available anywhere and our customers couldn't agree more.

So what's special about our products? Every inch of timber we use is tanalised and pressure treated. This means that effectively the timber is killed stone dead, nothing can live on or in the timber that can cause any decay or rot. All out sheet materials i.e. floors, nesting boxes etc is 12mm exterior grade W.P.B plywood treated with natural oil to prevent absorption. All Ironmongery used in our buildings is either galvanised or black powder coated, not black japanned. Powder coated is much more durable and has a much longer lifespan. Our poultry houses are all screwed together, galvanized nails are only used where appropriate for example, when fixing into end grain. All our poultry houses are finished with a cuprinol wood preservative. This is purely for cosmetic purposes. Tanalised timer will fade when exposed to sunlight but a quick coat of cuprinol once a year will keep your house looking fresh and new. The majority of our buildings are delivered to your door fully assembled and ready to go. We like it that way. We can then be sure that there's no bits missing and that everything is in the right place, just introduce your stock and your up and running. Flat packed products may save a little on delivery but believe me some may take time off work, may have to buy a new cordless screwdriver or a new extension lead to complete the job or even, as in my neighbours case the goats ate the instructions before they finished unpacking. its all false economy and can have you feeling deflated before you get started. A lot of thought goes into all our products but most of our buildings have been designed, to a large extent by you, the customer. By listening to your requirements and needs we have been able to build a range of products that are easy to manage, need little or no maintenance and with care can last a lifetime.
